Congressman Pat Ryan Calls on New York Republicans To Provide Deciding Vote to Release Epstein Files

The petition forcing a vote on Congressman Ryan’s bipartisan resolution to require the complete release of the Epstein Files needs just ONE more signature

Four Republicans have signed; none of the seven New York Republicans have joined the push for transparency; Ryan is calling on the delegation to provide the deciding vote to release the Epstein Files

Their hesitation comes amid attempts by Trump and establishment Republicans to kill the resolution, with one White House official warning that support for the release of the files would amount to a “hostile act” toward the Trump Administration

WASHINGTON, DC  –  Today, Congressman Pat Ryan is calling on Republican members of the New York Congressional Delegation to provide the final necessary signature to force a vote on his bipartisan resolution to release the Epstein Files. Four Republicans have signed; none of the seven New York Republicans have joined the push for transparency.

Only one additional signature is needed. Ryan is calling on New York Republicans to provide it.

“Bringing predators to justice – no matter who they are – is not a partisan issue. It is a simple question of law and order. I give full credit to the four Republicans who have put the American people first and already joined the effort. All it takes is one of the seven New York Republicans to finally deliver,” said Congressman Pat Ryan. “As members of Congress, our first responsibility is to our constituents. And I know that New Yorkers, along with Americans across the country, have made it clear that they want transparency. I am proud to stand with them, and am inviting all my New York Republican colleagues to join us in demanding answers – for the people, and against anyone who would do them harm.”

If the petition reaches 218 signatures Speaker Johnson will have no choice but to bring it to the floor – where Members will have to demonstrate in front of the nation where they truly stand.

As of now, not a single New York Republican has signed on to the petition – which would force a vote on the full release of all government files related to Jeffrey Epstein – likely due to rising threats from Trump and establishment Republicans to squash the “Epstein Hoax.” One White House official went so far as to warn that support of this effort to release the files would amount to a “hostile act” toward the Trump Administration

The full list of New York Republicans that have not signed on includes:

  • Rep. Nick LaLota (NY-01, Amityville)
  • Rep. Andrew Garbarino (NY-02, Bayport)
  • Rep. Nicole Malliotakis (NY-11, Staten Island)
  • Rep. Mike Lawler (NY-17, Pearl River)
  • Rep. Elise Stefanik (NY-21, Schuylerville)
  • Rep. Nick Langworthy (NY-23, Pendleton)
  • Rep. Claudia Tenney (NY-24, Canandaigua)

When Ryan’s resolution was introduced prior to August recess, Speaker Johnson – at the behest of President Trump – called the House out of session early to avoid a vote on the release of the files. Ryan slammed Johnson for leading the “weak, pathetic move by politicians hellbent on preventing transparency on an issue that the American people have clearly expressed matters to them deeply.”

Before Speaker Johnson’s call for an early recess to avoid voting on transparency, Congressman Ryan questioned Trump’s Transportation Secretary, Sean Duffy, at a hearing of the House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee. Ryan asked Secretary Duffy if he, as a senior member of the President’s cabinet, would commit to a transparent conversation about the release of the files in front of the American people. Duffy dodged the question, bizarrely seeming to imply that the files haven't been released because people who only had a layover on the notorious island could be mistakenly implicated, and that he wanted to “protect” the identity of the children involved. The full exchange can be viewed here

Congressman Ryan is a co-sponsor on the bipartisan resolution – introduced by Congressmen Ro Khanna (D-CA) and Thomas Massie (R-KY) – which would force the complete release of the government’s files related to Jeffrey Epstein. The full list of co-sponsors, which includes nine Democrats and eleven Republicans, is included below. Notably, only four of the cosigned Republicans – Representatives Massie, Greene, Boebert, and Mace – have signed onto the discharge petition to force a vote on their own resolution. The others – Representatives Barrett, Burlison, Burchett, Crane, Van Drew, Miller, Mills, and Self – seem to be heeding the President’s warning. No New York Republicans co-sponsor the resolution, nor have any signed the petition.
