Congressman Pat Ryan Announces Week of Action to Honor and Serve Local Veterans

Ryan and his Constituent Advocacy Resources Empowerment Services (C.A.R.E.S.) Van will bring services directly to local veterans organizations and honor local veterans in recognition of Veterans Day

WASHINGTON, DC  –  Today, Congressman Pat Ryan announced events for his week of action in honor of Veterans Day. Throughout the week, Ryan and his Constituent Advocacy Resources Empowerment Services (C.A.R.E.S.) Van will make stops at veterans organizations across NY-18 to bring its services directly to local veterans. The stops will also include events to recognize and honor local veterans for their service.

“Veterans Day is a time to give our thanks to everyone who wore the uniform. We must also back up those words with action. I’m fighting to deliver for those who risked their life for this country,” said Congressman Pat Ryan. “Every veteran took an oath to protect our country, and in return our country made a promise to take care of us when we come home. My team is working every day to make good on that promise.”

“I would like to sincerely thank Congressman Ryan's office for all their assistance with reinstating my disability compensation benefit payments from the Department of Veterans Affairs and retrieving over $15,000.00 in retroactive benefit payments,” said Beacon resident and veteran Christopher Kattis.

The C.A.R.E.S. Van is staffed by Congressman Ryan’s skilled caseworkers, including staff dedicated solely to veterans and military services, who provide free assistance with federal agencies, including the Department Veterans Affairs and Department of Defense. The Van will make stops at Veterans of Foreign Wars Joyce-Schirick Post 1386 in Kingston and Post 2064 in Maybrook and the Dutchess County Veterans Service Agency in Pleasant Valley during the week of Veterans Day. These events will focus on the needs of veterans, but will also include the broader assistance made available by Congressman Ryan’s office, including, but not limited to assistance with the Internal Revenue Service, Social Security, passports, grant funding, and other federal benefits.

Congressman Ryan has prioritized increasing the responsiveness and accessibility of these services. The C.A.R.E.S Van will visit every municipality in the district over the course of the next year, ensuring that every constituent has direct and easy access to vital federal services.
