Congressman Pat Ryan Calls on House Leadership to Vote on Congressional Stock Trading Ban This Week
Congress leaves for recess on Friday and does not return until November 14th
WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, Congressman Pat Ryan called on Democratic and Republican leadership in Congress to bring a bill to the floor for a vote this week to ban Members of Congress, their spouses, and their dependent children from owning or trading individual stocks, commodities, derivatives, options, or other similar assets while serving in office.
“The people of New York’s 19th Congressional District and Americans across the country are tired of politicians that look out for themselves rather than for their constituents,” said Representative Pat Ryan. “ I am calling on House leadership to set aside the usual Washington games and bring legislation banning Member stock trading to the floor for a vote this week. We need to clean up corruption in Washington and restore faith and trust in our democracy, and this is the place to start.”
