STONE RIDGE, NY – Today, Congressman Pat Ryan held a roundtable discussion at SUNY Ulster to hear directly from local veterans and discuss pressing issues in NY-19.
"For too long, my brothers and sisters who served this country bravely in uniform have not received the support they have earned and deserve,” said Representative Pat Ryan. “In recent months, we’ve begun to right that wrong, passing key legislation including the PACT Act, the Food Security for all Veterans Act, and my bill to expand access to VA home loans. But there is still so much more to be done, and I am proud to be joined by veterans from across NY-19 as we discuss solutions to problems facing the nearly 34,000 veterans in this district.”
Congressman Ryan, a member of the House Armed Services Committee, served two combat tours in Iraq as an Army Intelligence Officer following his graduation from the United States Military Academy at West Point. He is a co-sponsor of the Veteran Suicide Prevention Act, the PFC Joseph P. Dwyer Peer Support Program Act, and the Expanding the Families of Veterans Access to Mental Health Services Act. His bill, the Expanding Home Loans for Guard and Reservists Act, passed the House in a bipartisan vote last month.
