Congressman Pat Ryan to Host Telephone Town Hall to Discuss Harmful Impacts of Republican “Big Ugly Betrayal” That Drives Up Costs, Rips Healthcare From Hudson Valley Seniors, Kids, and Veterans

Congressman Ryan will host a Telephone Town Hall on Monday, July 14th at 7:30pm, following passage of Republican bill that drives up food and health care costs for Hudson Valley families and closes local hospitals and health clinics

Ryan called the bill a “Big Ugly Betrayal” of his constituents and the American people; despite cutting over a trillion dollars from essential programs Hudson Valley families rely on – including Medicaid and SNAP – the bill still adds nearly $4 trillion to the debt to fund Trump’s unprecedented tax breaks for billionaires

KINGSTON, NY  –  Today, Congressman Pat Ryan announced he’ll be holding a Telephone Town Hall on Monday, July 14th, at 7:30pm, to address community concerns following passage of the MAGA Republican bill that drives up costs for Hudson Valley families, rips away health care from seniors, kids, and veterans, and closes rural hospitals.

Ryan called the bill, which passed last week without a single Democratic vote, a “Big Ugly Betrayal” of his constituents and the American people. Despite cutting over a trillion dollars from essential programs that Hudson Valley families rely on – including Medicaid and SNAP – the bill still adds nearly $4 trillion to the national debt to fund Trump’s unprecedented tax breaks for billionaires.

“Following the narrow passage of Trump’s ‘Big Ugly Betrayal,’ we’ve already received a record-breaking amount of calls from concerned constituents worried about themselves, their family, and their neighbors. I know you may have questions yourself, which is why I am inviting everyone in the Hudson Valley to join my Telephone Town Hall next Monday, ” said Congressman Pat Ryan. “Your voice matters, and hearing from our community – especially as this incredibly harmful bill becomes law – is more important now than ever. I’ll be taking questions, explaining the local impacts of the bill, and laying out where we go from here.  Every single day, I promise to fight for you and against anyone who would do you harm.”

Congressman Ryan’s Telephone Town Hall will take place on Monday, July 14th at 7:30pm. Participants can join by calling (833) 980 3644, and can view the livestream at PatRyan.house.gov/live

Ryan called the bill, which passed last week without a single Democratic vote, a “Big Ugly Betrayal” of his constituents and the American people. It will have devastating impacts for families across the Hudson Valley: driving up food and healthcare costs for everyone, ripping away health insurance and food from kids and seniors, and closing hospitals. Despite cutting over a trillion dollars from essential programs that Hudson Valley families rely on – including Medicaid and SNAP – the bill still adds nearly $4 trillion to the national debt to fund Trump’s unprecedented tax breaks for billionaires.

Congressman Ryan has consistently elevated the importance of constituent services and being accessible to members of the Hudson Valley community. In addition to multiple events across the district each week with the C.A.R.E.S. Van – Ryan’s mobile office – he has also hosted multiple town halls this year alone, with thousands of community members in attendance. The Telephone Town Hall is designed to reach the broadest audience and most community members possible, especially given the scope and impacts of Trump’s bill. Congressman Ryan’s February Telephone Town Hall had 22,000 participants.
