WASHINGTON, DC  –  Today, Congressman Pat Ryan announced his Constituent Advocacy Resources Empowerment Services (C.A.R.E.S.) Van will be at the Village of Highland Falls Senior Center, located at 15 Drew Avenue, from 10:00am to 3:00pm this Wednesday, August 2nd, to provide mobile flood assistance. Ryan’s staff will be on hand to help with the flood recovery process, as well as representatives from RUPCO, RECAP, Senator Skoufis’ office, Assemblymember Eachus’ office, Orange County Office for the Aging, the Mental Health Association of Orange County, and the Community Foundation of Orange and Sullivan. This next step in flood recovery builds on weeks of advocacy for the community, including multiple visits to impacted cities, working with partners across all levels of government to secure additional resources, and volunteering at the Red Cross shelter in Highland Falls.

“The devastation on the ground is staggering – entire homes and livelihoods swept away in an instant. Talking with impacted families, especially in Highland Falls, Cornwall, and Fort Montgomery, the desperate need for immediate relief is clear. I’m committed to making sure everyone gets the support they deserve,” said Congressman Pat Ryan. “ I know how hard it is to navigate the maze of different programs and agencies in the wake of this destruction. That’s why we’re bringing together a coalition of local, state, federal, and non-profit groups in one accessible location. If you’ve been impacted by the flood, or have loved ones and neighbors who need assistance, please spread the word. Together, we will begin to rebuild our community.”

Since the flood, Congressman Ryan and his office have worked around the clock to deliver relief for impacted families. Ryan has repeatedly visited Highland Falls, Fort Montgomery and Cornwall to assess the damage, meet residents impacted by the storm, and partner with state, local, and federal leaders on a coordinated response. Ryan’s staff has also volunteered at the Red Cross shelter in Highland Falls and will continue to be on the ground for additional support.

On July 14th, Ryan joined Congressman Lawler in a bipartisan call for a Major Disaster Declaration, which was approved by President Biden on July 22nd.
