FOLLOWING HOUSE OVERSIGHT AND ACCOUNTABILITY COMMITTEE HEARING, COMGRESSMAN PAT RYAN CALLS ON SECRET SERVICE DIRECTOR KIMBERLY CHEATLE TO RESIGN

July 23, 2024

Following House Oversight and Accountability Committee Hearing, Congressman Pat Ryan Calls on Secret Service Director Kimberly Cheatle to Resign

WASHINGTON, D.C.  –  Today, Congressman Pat Ryan released the following statement calling for the resignation of Secret Service Director Kimberly Cheatle:

The Secret Service’s failures on July 13th led to the death of a brave first responder, Corey Comperatore, serious injuries to at least two others, and the near assassination of former President Trump – tragedies that shook our nation to its very core. Director Cheatle’s inability to answer even basic questions on what went wrong that day is simply unacceptable. Amidst such uncertainty and rightful outrage, I am calling on her to resign and allow for new leadership to both quickly address these failures and begin the long road of rebuilding trust with the American people.”
